Dyson V8 Battery Adapters – Use Other Batteries on Your Dyson
For the Dyson V8 vacuum. Same story as the rest of the range: the machine usually outlives its battery by years, and a replacement costs a meaningful fraction of a new vacuum.
15 adapters here run a V8 from a power tool battery you already own. Check your model number before ordering — V7, V8 and V6 use different fittings.

Dyson V8 questions
Which Dyson V8 models do these adapters fit?
Every adapter in this collection fits the Dyson V8 range: HH15, SV10, SV10D, SV10E, SV10K, SV25. It does not fit the Dyson V8 Cyclone, SV55.
Why do some batteries say 18V and others 20V?
They are the same class of battery, measured at two different moments. Five lithium cells in series read about 20V fresh off the charger with nothing drawing from them, and settle to about 18V once a tool is running. A brand that prints 20V is quoting the first figure and one that prints 18V is quoting the second. That is why an adapter between an "18V" platform and a "20V" platform works: there is no conversion to do.
Will this fit my other Dyson batteries?
Only the Dyson V8. The Dyson V10, Dyson V6, Dyson V7 use a different battery socket, so each one needs its own adapter. Check your model number against the list at the top before ordering.
How do I find the right adapter on this page?
Start with your Dyson's model number: type it in the box at the top, or find it in the lists there, to land on the right generation. Then pick the battery you already own. Every adapter on the page is one we make.
Can I use a Dyson V8 battery on another brand’s tool?
Not with an adapter from us. Dyson V8 works as the tool side only here — we make adapters that let other brands’ batteries run Dyson V8 tools, not the reverse.
Can I charge a Dyson V8 battery through the adapter?
No. The adapter carries current from the battery to the tool and does nothing else — there is no charging circuit inside it. Keep charging Dyson V8 batteries on their usual Dyson charger.
Will an adapter damage my Dyson V8 battery or my tool?
Used with undamaged, compatible equipment it is not expected to. Dyson V8 batteries are lithium-ion with their own protection circuit built into the battery, and it keeps doing its job through the adapter. Stop when the tool noticeably slows rather than running the battery flat, and stop using the adapter if it becomes unusually hot or the contacts look damaged.
Does it work with third-party Dyson batteries?
Usually. What matters is the socket, not the badge: if the battery slides onto a Dyson V8 tool and locks the way an original does, the adapter will take it. Aftermarket batteries do vary in moulding, so if yours looks unusual send us a photo and we will check before you order.
